"In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has."

Alright, guys, book 3. If you're new to The Lunar Chronicles, spoiler disclaimer for previous books, yadda yadda yadda. Also, making up for lost time on this Re(re)ad along by blitzing these reviews out. Which means, Winter is coming tomorrow. This is where it starts getting real y'all. And good. Real good, if you will.

Cress was such a great character. She started out so naive and innocent trapped up in her satellite, and it was so wonderful to watch her grow and learn as a character. I love what MM did with her character arc. I can't wait to see what MM does with her later! I love her almost as much as Cinder (and more than Scarlet, sorry not sorry!). We shall see where Winter ranks...

Carswell Thorne. Who doesn't love Thorne? He's such a charmer. He also has pretty great arc. He was a little annoying in the beginning of Scarlet for me, but I appreciated his comedic release by the end of that one. And by the time Cress happened, I enjoyed every time he appeared. Love good ole Thorne.

MM now has a major character that represents each of the major races (? for lack of a better term?) in TLC world, which I think is pretty interesting. We've got Lunars, Earthens, shells, half Lunars/Earthens, royalties, cyborgs, thieves, and it's just so wonderful. I can't wait to see how everyone's stories end in Winter (aka happily ever after MM, happily ever after, or else).

You may have noticed that I haven't been all chatty Kathy about Emporer Kai. He's had almost as much screen time as Cinder in these books, and yet I don't know how I feel about him. He's a little too back and forth about my girl Cinder for my tastes. I mean I get it, he's got a Commonwealth to worry about and all. But Levana? Don't marry her, dude. Bad idea.

5 out of 5 stars.
